Can I use different Workspace types in the same account?
Yes! Each Workspace can have its own type. You can use a Standard Workspace for drafts and a Compliance Workspace for regulated documents – all in the same account.
Can I downgrade a Workspace type?
No. For Compliance and legal reasons, downgrading the Workspace type is not possible. You can upgrade to Business or Compliance at any time.
Why can't my documents be compromised – even if a server is hacked?
PaperOffice uses ChunkTech™ 4096-Bit – our proprietary fragmentation encryption. Every document is split into encrypted fragments and distributed across multiple storage nodes. Even if an attacker gains access to one server, they only get meaningless data fragments. Without all fragments + the master key, the document remains completely unreadable.
How does WORM storage protect me during a tax audit?
WORM (Write Once Read Many) ensures that archived documents cannot be modified or deleted until the retention period expires. This is exactly what tax authorities and auditors require. Combined with qualified timestamps and audit trails, you have legally admissible proof that no document has been tampered with – fully GoBD/HGB-compliant.
Do I need to host my own servers?
No. You can use our Secure Cloud (own EU datacenter) or connect your own storage via SSH/SFTP. Both options support all Workspace types – at the same price. No vendor lock-in.
Is PaperOffice GDPR compliant?
Absolutely. PaperOffice is fully GDPR compliant with own EU data centers – no AWS, no Azure, no US cloud. The Compliance tier adds specific GDPR features like automated right to erasure, data portability exports, and right of access reports.
Does storage really cost €0 – what's the catch?
There is no catch. Document storage is always included in every PaperOffice plan – whether you use our EU Secure Cloud or connect your own infrastructure via BYOD. Is there a limit on documents or storage space?
No. There are no artificial limits on the number of documents or total storage space. Upload as many documents as you need – whether 1,000 or 1,000,000. This applies equally to our Secure Cloud. and to your own BYOD storage.
