The 8-Year-Old Who Wrote Code
Daniel Schönland from Gütersloh gets his first computer: a TI-99/4A. Extended BASIC for his birthday. He could code before he could write in elementary school. What followed: C64, Amiga 500, Amiga 600 – always at the forefront of every computing era.
First Linux Server & the Early Internet
First own server running SuSE Linux. First websites in pure HTML – there was no CSS yet, just a handful of tags. First in town with an ISDN connection. Then in 1996: PHP and MySQL – the tools that would later power PaperOffice.
Lycos, Schlund+Partner & the Full Stack
Professionally at Lycos in Gütersloh and Schlund+Partner (now 1&1 / United Internet). Datacenter construction, frontend, backend – everything from scratch. Simultaneously studying: Communication Design at FH Bielefeld, then IT System Management with Process Mining and Data Warehouse at IHK.
