Install MariaDB from App Central
Open App Central on your ASUSTOR, install the MariaDB or MySQL server and set a password for the database user. Note the IP address and port 3306.

Download and install PaperOffice
Download the Windows installer and follow the setup wizard. The trial runs for 14 days with the full feature set.

Connect PaperOffice to the ASUSTOR
Create a user account on first start and enter the IP address of your ASUSTOR, the port and the password in the database wizard. PaperOffice sets up the database itself.

PaperOffice Classic on the ASUSTOR NAS
Which ASUSTOR models work with PaperOffice Classic?
Any ASUSTOR NAS running ADM that can install MariaDB or MySQL from App Central — from the entry-level Drivestor to the Lockerstor series. Alternatively, MariaDB runs as a Docker container via Portainer.
What does the ASUSTOR partnership mean for me?
ASUSTOR has listed PaperOffice as an official DMS partner on its partner page since 2024. The setup is agreed with ASUSTOR and works with the database server from App Central without additional software.
Does the NAS have to run permanently?
The NAS must be reachable while you work with PaperOffice, because the client accesses the database directly. No internet connection is needed for that, the local network is enough.
Can I access the archive while travelling?
Yes. The Windows client connects to the database via TCP/IP, for example through VPN Server from App Central or a port forward on your router. The database port is not reachable through EZ-Connect. No third-party cloud and no synchronisation sits in between.
How do I back up the database on ASUSTOR?
Backup & Restore in ADM backs up the volume including the database directory; on Btrfs volumes, Snapshot Center complements it. We also recommend a regular database backup from within PaperOffice — setup and restore are shown in dedicated videos.
Where exactly are the documents stored?
In the MariaDB on your ASUSTOR, together with OCR full text, indexing, notes and tasks. Documents are stored encrypted and can only be read through PaperOffice with a valid user account.
How many users can work at the same time?
Up to 50 user accounts at the same time per database. Each user account needs a perpetual licence, and each account can be logged in once at a time.
What does PaperOffice Classic cost on the ASUSTOR NAS?
€649.00 one-time per user account, valid for life. PaperOffice PLUS with updates, support entitlement and OnlineServices is included for 30 days and afterwards costs an optional €29.95 per month with annual billing. PLUS can only be activated later within 12 months of the licence purchase. MariaDB from App Central is free of charge.
Can I use the same ASUSTOR with PaperOffice AI as well?
Yes. PaperOffice AI mounts your ASUSTOR as its own storage — Bring Your Own Storage via Storage Mounts. PaperOffice Classic keeps running in parallel, and the two products can be connected.
