Key, step, event.
There is no dedicated Pipedream app. You call the REST API from a code step or the HTTP action and receive events with an HTTP trigger. Basic knowledge of HTTP and JSON is required.
Add a step
A Node.js or Python step calls POST /job/add/{pipeline}. The result arrives in the same response or, after HTTP 202, via GET /job/get/{job_id}. Between two checks, the workflow waits with $.flow.delay.
React to events
From Professional: an HTTP trigger provides its own URL, which you subscribe to document.processed, for example, with POST /webhooks/subscribe. Every delivery is signed with HMAC-SHA256.

Documented endpoints, signed events and MCP tools, from code steps or without code.
- Every documented endpoint
A code step reaches all documented endpoints of the REST API, for example POST /job/add/{pipeline} for OCR, IDP, PDF and speech, and POST /translate/text for translations.
- Files from any step
Files from an earlier step go to POST /job/add/{pipeline} as a multipart upload or as a link (source_url). The response returns text, fields or the finished PDF.
- Result right away or by polling
With client_wait, the result arrives in the same response. On HTTP 202, the step polls GET /job/get/{job_id} until job_status reports completed, with $.flow.delay between checks.
- Events to Pipedream
From the Professional plan, a webhook subscription reports document.processed, document.edited, document.tag_added and other document events to your HTTP trigger.
- Fields included
document.processed carries pofid, workspace_id, document type, key_fields such as invoice number, amount, due date and sender, plus the extracted fields.
- Signed, filtered, retried
Every delivery carries an HMAC-SHA256 signature that a code step verifies. On top come filters by workspace or document, custom headers and up to 10 retries on errors.

Signature

Target addresses
Only http and https to public addresses. Private networks, localhost and metadata hosts are blocked.

Documents are processed in our own EU data center. What Pipedream keeps in events and logs follows Pipedream and your workflow settings.

Questions about Pipedream and PaperOffice AI
Is there a PaperOffice AI app for Pipedream?
No. There is no dedicated app in Pipedream. You work with code steps in Node.js or Python, the HTTP action and the HTTP trigger against the documented REST API and the MCP server.
Which key do I need?
You create it in PaperOffice AI under Account → API. For REST, use an API key (poai_) or a user token (po_ut_); for MCP, po_ut_, po_gt_ or OAuth 2.1. A confirmed email address is enough. The API is available on every plan, including Free.
How does Pipedream learn that a document is ready?
Through a webhook subscription, from Professional. You subscribe to document.processed with the URL of your HTTP trigger. The delivery carries pofid, workspace_id, document type, key_fields and the extracted fields. For jobs the workflow starts itself, poll GET /job/get/{job_id}.
Which events can Pipedream receive?
document.processed, document.edited, document.deleted, document.version_created, document.note_added, document.tag_added, document.comment_added, document.lifecycle_changed, document.legal_hold_placed and document.legal_hold_released. Check the end of an API job via job/get.
How do I verify that a delivery comes from PaperOffice AI?
Every delivery carries X-PaperOffice-Signature with sha256= and the HMAC-SHA256 over the raw body. The secret is in the response to the subscription. A code step computes the HMAC and compares it before the workflow continues.
Can I create webhook subscriptions in the app?
No. You create webhook subscriptions via the API with POST /webhooks/subscribe or with the MCP tool po_webhooks_subscribe. POST /webhooks/test sends a test.ping to your HTTP trigger.
Is there ready-made code?
Yes. The PaperOffice AI cookbook on GitHub contains recipes in Node.js, Python and curl under the MIT license. The llms.txt describes all endpoints so that an AI editor can generate the code for your step.
Are there limits on calls?
Yes. Every plan allows at least 5 calls per second, 30 per minute, 100 per hour and 500 per day – per key on the Free plan, per account on paid plans. As long as credits are available, paid plans have no rate limits. Status checks via GET /job/get do not count.
What does a call cost?
Calls are billed in PaperOffice AI credits, at least 5 credits per billable call. Processing such as OCR or invoice extraction is billed per page according to the model. Job status checks are free. Pipedream bills its own credits separately.
Where is the data stored?
Documents that Pipedream sends to PaperOffice AI are processed in our own EU data center. What Pipedream keeps in events and logs follows Pipedream and your workflow settings.
