Questions about storage mounts
Which storage can I connect?
Any storage with SFTP or SSH, WebDAV such as Nextcloud or ownCloud, S3-compatible storage such as AWS S3, MinIO, Wasabi or Backblaze B2, plus Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox. NAS systems from QNAP, Synology, Asustor and TrueNAS connect via SFTP.
Do my files really stay on my storage?
In index mode and as filing target, yes. PaperOffice reads the file for processing, stores index, metadata and AI results in the EU and keeps no copy of the file. Only import mode copies files into the PaperOffice EU cloud.
What is the difference between a storage mount and a connector?
The storage mount is the connection to your storage. A connector uses a mount as source and monitors a folder or mailbox there for new files, which are then processed automatically.
How does the mirror work?
You add a mirror target to a mount with interval and filter rules. PaperOffice synchronizes the files there. If the primary storage is unreachable, PaperOffice continues with the mirror and reports the switch.
Does the AI work on mounted storage too?
Yes. OCR, classification, IDP agents, embeddings and search work for files on a mount exactly as for files in the EU cloud. You set the processing depth per workspace.
How safe are the credentials?
Passwords and SSH keys are stored encrypted and decrypted only to establish the connection. The API never returns them. Every access to the mount is logged.
Can I manage mounts via API?
Yes. The REST API creates mounts, tests connections, reads health status and logs and manages mirrors. The same functions are available in the MCP server.
