Questions about technical documentation
What you should know before you start.
Do I need a template per manufacturer?
No. Data sheets are read through layout and context. A new supplier with its own layout needs no setup, you only describe the fields you need.
Are CAD files processed?
What is read are PDF outputs, plots and scans of drawings, including title block, dimensions and tables. Native CAD files are not evaluated as construction data.
Do units and tolerances survive the extraction?
Values are taken over with unit and tolerance exactly as they appear in the document. If a unit is missing or a value is uncertain, the field goes to review.
Are English and multilingual manuals read?
AI-OCR reads more than 120 languages. Search also returns hits when your search terms are in a different language than the document.
How do colleagues find the right passage in a manual?
Smart search works by meaning rather than by exact wording and shows the source location in the document. For recurring questions, instructions can be gathered in the knowledge base.
How do the figures reach our master data?
As an export in CSV or JSON, through the REST API or through a workflow that hands checked fields to PLM or ERP.
What happens with a new revision?
The new issue can be filed as a version on the same document. Revision level and issue date come from the document, and earlier levels remain traceable.
