A visible signature, not a certificate-based signature

The tool places your signature on the page as an image – just as if you had signed a printout and scanned it again. It does not check who is signing and creates neither a certificate nor a log. That means it is not a qualified or advanced electronic signature.

For forms, delivery notes, acceptance reports or internal approvals, a visible signature is often all you need. If you are unsure which form your document requires, check before you sign.

Three ways to sign

  • Draw: with your mouse, finger or stylus – pressure and speed give the line a natural look
  • Type: your name in a script font of your choice
  • Image: a photo or scan of your signature, with the white background removed if you like
  • Optionally add the date as text, for example below your signature

Good to know

The signature lands exactly where you see it in the preview – also on rotated or cropped pages. With “Add to all pages” you put your initials on every page in one step, at the same distance from the edge.

Your signature is only used for this document and is not stored.

FAQ

Questions about signing PDFs

Is this an electronic signature with a certificate?

No. The tool adds your signature as an image. It does not verify anyone's identity and creates no certificate – it is not a qualified or advanced electronic signature. Signatures with SMS code, audit trail and certificate are available with PaperOffice Sign as a simple electronic signature (SES) under eIDAS.

What happens to my PDF and my signature?

Both are only used for this tool and are deleted automatically afterwards. Your signature is not stored.

Can I add several signatures or initials?

Yes. You can create several signatures, place each one as often as you like and, for example, put your initials on every page with “Add to all pages”. You can add the date as text, too.

Can I use a photo of my signature?

Yes, as a PNG or JPG. Sign on white paper and take the photo straight from above. If you like, the tool removes the white background so that only the lines appear on the document.

Can I sign password-protected PDFs?

Yes, if you know the password. Enter it right in the file list. The signed file is saved without password protection.
