What it does
Planned behavior, not yet available:
- A button on the bill detail page, "Read with PaperOffice AI", sends the attached invoice for reading.
- Fills only empty fields of draft vendor bills (supplier, invoice number, date, due date; line items only if the bill has none). Existing values are never overwritten.
- Shows warnings if net plus VAT does not match the total, if the invoice total differs from the bill total, or if the IBAN differs from the supplier's known bank details.
- Reading again asks for confirmation first, because it is billed again.
- Checking the result of a reading adds no further processing.
- The PaperOffice AI user token is kept in a Zoho connection, not in a field.
Document processing (OCR, extraction, classification) runs on PaperOffice's own hardware in its own data center in Spain (EU), without external AI providers.
Limits: this is a plan, not a release. Details may change, and the extension has not been tested in Zoho yet. Only Zoho organization admins can install extensions, and availability depends on your Zoho Books edition. Zoho data centers differ by region.
Setup
Set up in a few steps
- Install the extension as a Zoho Books admin once it is available.
- In PaperOffice AI, create a User token (po_ut_…) under Account → API.
- Enter the token when connecting the extension.
- Turn on reading in the extension settings. It is off by default.
- Open a draft bill with an attachment and choose Read with PaperOffice AI.

Is the extension available yet?
No. It is being built and will only be submitted after testing. PaperOffice AI is an independent product and is not affiliated with Zoho.
Will it change my existing bills?
No. It is designed to fill empty fields only and to report differences as warnings.
What does it cost?
No specific plan is required. Usage is billed to your PaperOffice AI account as usual.
