Convert HEIC to JPG

iPhone photos in HEIC format don't open in many programs and on some computers. Convert them to JPG or PNG here – several at once, right in your browser.

Photos stay on your device Several photos at once

HEIC to JPG

Save iPhone photos (HEIC) as JPG or PNG.

Format

JPG suits photos and keeps files small. PNG is lossless, but the files get much larger.

90% is a good value for photos. Lower saves space, higher makes the file larger.

Your files are processed directly in your browser and are not uploaded. They never leave your device.

How it works

Convert HEIC to JPG in three steps

  1. Add photos

Drop HEIC or HEIF photos into the box or choose them, several at once if you like.

  2. Choose a format

Pick JPG with the quality you want, or lossless PNG.

  3. Save the photos

Click "Convert photos". One photo downloads directly, several come as a ZIP file; save single photos from the preview.

Convert HEIC photos without uploading them

What is HEIC?

HEIC is a HEIF format and has been the default photo format on the iPhone since iOS 11. The files are smaller than JPG, but many programs, online forms and some computers cannot open them. JPG, on the other hand, works almost everywhere.

What happens during conversion

  • Photos are the right way up: the rotation stored in the HEIC file is applied.
  • Colors are kept: an embedded color profile, usually Display P3 on iPhones, is carried over into the JPG.
  • If a file contains several images, the main image is converted.
  • Camera data such as location (GPS) and capture time are not carried over.
  • For decoding, the tool uses the libheif library (licence LGPL-3.0, github.com/strukturag/libheif) as a separate file that is only loaded for HEIC photos.

Everything stays on your device

The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your photos are not sent to a server – not even private pictures or photographed documents.

FAQ

Questions about HEIC to JPG

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.

How many photos can I convert at once?

Up to 50 photos of at most 50 MB each, up to 300 MB in total. Several photos come as a ZIP file.

Is the quality preserved?

The photos keep their full resolution. For JPG you choose the quality yourself; 90% is a good value for photos. PNG is lossless, but the files get much larger.

Are the photos the right way up afterwards?

Yes. The iPhone stores the rotation in the HEIC photo, and the tool applies it during conversion.

Are location and capture time carried over?

No. Camera data such as GPS location, capture time and device model are not carried over into the new file. That protects your privacy when you share photos.
