Show your public IP address, location and provider.

Your public IP address

…

To show it, your IP address is sent to the PaperOffice API. For other IP addresses, only the address you enter is sent.

How it works

Your IP address in one step

  1. Open the page

Your public IP address appears at the top right away.

  2. Read the details

Location, provider, time zone and VPN detection are shown below.

  3. Check another IP

Enter any public IPv4 or IPv6 address and look it up.

What your IP address reveals

Public and private IP addresses

Your router gets a public IP address from your internet provider. All devices in your home or office network appear on the internet with it. Inside the network, devices have private addresses such as 192.168.x.x that are not visible from outside.

With many connections, the public address changes regularly, for example after the router reconnects.

How accurate is the location?

The location is derived from network operators' databases. Country and region are usually correct; the city is often just the nearest network node. A street address cannot be read from an IP address.

VPN, proxy and Tor

With a VPN, proxy or Tor, websites see the address of the service instead of your own. The tool shows whether the address belongs to such a service or a data center.

FAQ

Questions about IP addresses

What is my IP address?

The public address your internet connection uses on the net. It is shown at the top of this page and applies to all devices behind your router.

Can someone find me through my IP address?

Not easily. Country, region and provider can be read from an IP address, but not a street address. Only your internet provider knows which connection it belongs to.

Why does the page show a different city?

The location of an IP address is usually the location of your provider's network node. It can be a few or many kilometres away from you.

What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?

IPv4 addresses consist of four numbers such as 203.0.113.42. IPv6 addresses are longer and contain letters and colons. Many connections use both today.

How do I change my IP address?

With many connections, reconnecting the router is enough. A VPN shows websites a different address.
