Crop PDF

Values in millimetres, relative to the page as it is displayed. You can also drag the frame in the preview.

Pages

Unticked, the tool only sets the visible area (CropBox and TrimBox). Ticked, it also changes the page format, which some programs and print shops use exclusively.

The preview appears once you choose a file.

Drag the frame or its handles, or move them with the arrow keys (hold Shift for 10 mm steps).

Your files are processed directly in your browser and are not uploaded. They never leave your device.

How it works

Crop a PDF in three steps

  1. Choose the file

Drop a PDF file into the box or choose it.

  2. Set the area

Drag the frame in the preview or enter the margins in millimetres. "Detect white margins" can do this for you.

  3. Crop and save

Choose the pages, click "Crop PDF" and download the file.

Crop PDF pages without uploading them

Typical uses

  • Remove wide white margins from scans
  • Limit slides or tables to the area that matters
  • Hide crop marks and bleed in print files
  • Prepare pages for reading on tablets and phones

How cropping works

The tool sets a new visible area for each page (the CropBox, plus the TrimBox). PDF readers then only show and print that area. The rest of the content stays in the file.

With "Also crop the page size", the tool also changes the page format (MediaBox). Even then, the content outside technically stays in the file. For confidential content, use a redaction tool instead.

Rotated pages

The margins always refer to the page as it is displayed, so top stays top on rotated pages too. If pages have different formats, the same margins in millimetres apply to each page.

FAQ

Questions about cropping PDF files

Is the trimmed content deleted?

No, it is hidden. PDF readers only show and print the chosen area, but the content stays in the file. For confidential content, use a redaction tool.

Can I crop only some pages?

Yes. Choose "Specific pages" and enter ranges such as 2-5. The other pages stay unchanged.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Cropping runs entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

How do I find the right margins?

Drag the frame in the preview or use "Detect white margins". Use the arrows above the preview to check other pages.

What does "Also crop the page size" mean?

It makes the tool change the page format (MediaBox) as well. That helps when a program or print shop ignores the visible area.
