How to read the result
Inserted words are underlined with a green background, removed words are struck through with a red background. The summary shows how many words were added or removed and on which pages something changed. Page numbers refer to the new version.
In the “Changes only” view, long unchanged passages are collapsed. The HTML report always contains the full text with all highlights and opens, prints and shares in any browser.

Good to know
The text of the PDFs is compared. Images, fonts, colours and the position on the page are not. Scanned PDFs without a text layer cannot be compared directly – the tool tells you when that is the case.
With “Ignore line breaks and spacing”, re-wrapped text counts as unchanged. With the option off, changed line breaks count as changes too.

Questions about comparing PDFs
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Reading and comparing run entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
What exactly is compared?
The text of both PDFs, word by word and punctuation mark by punctuation mark. Images, fonts, colours and the position on the page are not compared.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Only if the PDF has a text layer. For pure scans, the tool tells you that no text was found. Our “Image to text” tool recognizes text in scans and photos.
What do the options do?
“Ignore upper and lower case” treats “Contract” and “CONTRACT” as equal. “Ignore line breaks and spacing” compares only the words, not the wrapping. “Rejoin words hyphenated at line ends” puts split words back together.
Can I save the result?
Yes. Download the comparison as an HTML report. It contains the summary and the full text with all changes and opens and prints in any browser.
